PHOENIX PROGRAM

UiS Aerospace’s program developing bipropellant liquid fueled rockets launched from Spaceport Utsira, Norway. The program intends to create high-power rockets capable of reaching the Kàrmàn Line. 

Avionics

Designs and produces the onboard avionics in order to ensure data collection, radio communication, and initializing recovery of the rocket. A multidisciplinary team taking on challenges such as PCB design, electrical engineering and software development.

Mechanical Engineering

The mechanical engineering group designs and produces the rocket’s nosecone & fuselage, engine truss assembly, inner structure and the propellant tanks supplying the engine. Key challenges involve ensuring that the rocket survives the forces experienced during lift-off as well as the forces during parachute deployment and landing.
