The Space Career Day “SEx & Aliens”, organized by UiS Aerospace, is an exclusive event designed to connect companies in or related to the space industry with talented students eager to launch their careers in this rapidly evolving sector. This annual event provides companies with the opportunity to showcase their innovations, market their brand, and recruit top-tier students who are passionate about space and technology.

  • Dr. S. “Pete” Worden, (Brig Gen, USAF, Ret, PhD) held several US Air Force positions and a research professorship at the University of Arizona, Dr. Worden was then Director of NASA’s Ames Research Center. He now leads the Breakthrough Initiatives, a privately funded suite of space science programs to find life beyond earth and explore interstellar space. He is also an Advisor to the Luxembourg Space Agency and was knighted by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for his space services.

    Dr. Worden will present Breakthrough Listen, looking for signs of extraterrestrial technology; Breakthrough Watch, looking for nearby exoplanets; Breakthrough Starshot, engineering a light-driven probe for Alpha Centauri; and other space science programs to find life beyond earth and explore the cosmos.

    Ole Dokka, director and founder of Spaceport Norway, is a driving force in Norway’s space industry. With a background at Telenor and Equinor, his innovative work has gained international acclaim.

    Through his annual “Spaceport Norway” conference, he’s become a beloved figure in the student space scene, accelerating the careers of hundreds of students by involving 100 students annually in his conferences.

    He can also be spotted along various roads throughout the country, either on his Triumph or Harley Davidson motorcycle, regardless of weather conditions.

    11.00-11.30: Norway in Space
    Ole Dokka, Founder & CEO Spaceport Norway gives an Introduction to the Norwegian Space Industry. Ole Dokka gives us an insight into the most recent developments, challenges, and what we have to look forward to in the Norwegian Space Industry .

    12.30-13.30: Panel Debate, From Dinosaurs to Space Exploration
    What advantages does Norway have as a spacefaring nation? And which possibilities lie in the crossover between Oil & Gas and space technology?

    Our panelists will be challenged to answer these and many more questions in this exciting session.

    14.00-15.00: Life in the Universe
    Dr. S.     Daniel C. Varming, Founder & CEO of UiS Aerospace will reveal UiS Aerospace’s newest rocket and plans to put UiS in space by 2026.
